The most beautiful locations for your civil wedding in the alps
Wedding for mountain lovers
Civil weddings in the mountains are becoming more and more popular every year. However, many couples do not know that it is possible to move their civil wedding to the mountains. Are you a mountain fan and want to move your big day to the mountains? There are some wonderful registry offices that offer a wedding ceremony high up on the mountain. I have already visited many of them and photographed some fantastic mountain weddings. Maybe your mountain wedding too?
Are you planning a wedding with mountain love? Then you’ve come to the right place and I look forward to seeing you!

Civil wedding in the Bavarian mountains
- Wendelsteinhaus (Wendelstein, Bayrischzell, Landkreis Miesbach)
Get married at 1724m high up on top of the Wendelstein! You can have your civil wedding in the Wendelsteinhaus in the cozy Münchner Stube. Next to the Wendelsteinhaus is also the highest church in Germany – the Wendelstein Church – where weddings are also possible. You can find a wedding on the Wendelstein on my blog here: Standesamt auf dem Wendelstein

Some information about the wedding ceremony on top of the Wendelstein
Civil wedding ceremonies only take place here on Fridays. The registry office in Bayrischzell is responsible. You can easily reach the Wendelstein by cable car (from Bayrischzell) or cog railroad (from Brannenburg). If the cable car cannot run due to weather conditions, the wedding ceremony will take place in the town hall in Bayrischzell.
For me, the weddings high up on the Wendelstein are always a highlight. I am glad to be there regularly for weddings.

- Almbad Huberspitz (Hausham, Raum Miesbach)
The Almbad Huberspitz in the area of Miesbach offers less of a mountain view but a beautiful view towards Lake Schliersee. After a 40-minute hike, you reach this natural gem (a shuttle service can be booked, the bridal couple or a car can also drive directly to the alpine pasture).
It is also possible to spend the night there with your guests. So why not turn your civil wedding into a weekend in the mountains? In addition to a civil ceremony, free weddings (with a wonderful view) are also possible here. For me, weddings at Almbad Huberspitz are always a highlight! Have a look at my blog too: Hochzeit im Almbad Huberspitz in Hausham

Wedding photographer for your mountain wedding
As a wedding photographer, I have already been able to accompany over 350 bridal couples as they say “I do”. My heart beats for weddings in the mountains.
Are you planning your mountain wedding in 2025 at Tegernsee, Schliersee, in the Rosenheim, Chiemgau or Garmisch area? Then I look forward to your message!

- Sonn Alpin (Zugspitze, Garmisch Partenkirchen)
Getting married on Germany’s highest peak – the Zugspitze (2962m). For me as a wedding photographer, this dream finally came true a few years ago. In the Sonn Alpin restaurant high up, it is possible to have a civil wedding and then be pampered with culinary delights. That sounds good, doesn’t it? However, the dates are very limited and weddings currently only take place once a month (on Wednesdays). You can find more information and an elopement on the Zugspitze on my blog: Heiraten auf der Zugspitze – Standesamtliche Hochzeit auf der Zugspitze

- Jenner (Schönau am Königssee)
The Jenner is located directly above the famous Königssee. At 1800 meters above sea level, you can say “I do” in a special atmosphere at the Jenner mountain station. The Jenneralm’s dream room is 70 square meters in size and offers a wonderful view with a large window front. Weddings are only possible here on Tuesdays and on a few Saturdays.
I have summarized more pictures for you on this blog post: Heiraten auf dem Jenner

- Predigtstuhl (Bad Reichenhall)
In Bad Reichenhall in the Berchtesgadener Land, you can have a civil wedding at an altitude of 1600m on top of the Predigtstuhl. The registry office is one of the highest in Germany. Weddings are held in the basement of the mountain restaurant. Before that, however, you have to take the nostalgic cable car up the mountain. After the ceremony, you can toast up here at the champagne reception or celebrate in the Max Stuben. Definitely a really beautiful place to say “I do”!
Check my blogpost here: Standesamt auf dem Predigtstuhl

- SonnenAlm (Kampenwand, Aschau im Chiemgau)
In Chiemgau, you can have a civil wedding on the Kampenwand at an altitude of 1500m. In addition to the wedding ceremony, you can also celebrate your wedding here with up to 150 guests. And mountain views included!
- Eisensteiner Hütte & Arberseehaus (Bayerisch Eisenstein, Bayrischer Wald)
Another popular location for a civil wedding is the Eisensteiner Hütte and the Arberseehaus in the Bavarian Forest. The Seehaus is located in the valley and the hut at 1240m. At a wedding in the beautiful Arberseehaus, it is definitely worth taking the gondola and taking a few pictures on the Arber – the highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest.

Civil wedding in the mountains of Austria
- Cafe 3.440 (Pitztaler Gletscher, St. Leonhard im Pitztal)
Austria’s highest registry office is located high up on the Pitztal Glacier. In the wedding room of Cafe 3.440, bridal couples can say “I do” with a view of mountains such as the Wildspitze and other dream mountains. Curious? You can also find a wedding on the Pitztal Glacier on my blog: Standesamt Pitztaler Gletscher

- Kraftalm (Kufstein, Tirol)
In 2022 I was allowed to accompany my first wedding at the noble Kraftalm at 1355m in Brixental. The new Kraftalm was opened in May 2021. The alp itself has been family-owned for 4 generations and 130 years. This can also be seen in the warm and familiar atmosphere. You can have a civil wedding here with a view of the Wilder Kaiser. Afterwards, you can round off the day with a campfire and delicious food or simply hit the slopes after the ceremony. To the blog: Kraftalm – Hochzeit am wilden Kaiser in Tirol

Even more places for a civil wedding in the mountains in Austria
- Hohe Mut Alm (Sölden, Ötztal)
Right next door in Ötztal is the Hohe Mut Alpine pasture. Here you can say “I do” at 260m. According to a Tyrolean proverb, marriages made on the mountain last forever! Of course, you can also celebrate here with up to 230 guests.
Perhaps you know the ice Q in Sölden from a James Bond movie. Located at 3048m, you can say “I do” in this futuristic building with mountain views. A truly extraordinary wedding location on the Gaislachkogl. The registry office in Sölden is responsible for this.
- Gamskogelhütte (Katschberg, Salzburg)
The Gamskogelhütte is located on the border between Salzburg and Kärten. You can also have a civil wedding at this idyllic location. The registry office even has space for 90 people. During the summer months, you can combine your wedding ceremony with a celebration at 1850m.
- Genneralm (Faistenau, Salzkammergut)
The Reithütte or the Poschn Hütte on the Brenneralm are suitable for small civil weddings. You can book your date for a civil wedding here via the municipality of Faistenau.
- Rössl Alm (Gerlos, Tirol)
Getting married in Tyrol at 1580m? The rustic Rössl Alm makes it possible. A civil wedding in the mountains and a celebration with up to 100 people is no problem here. Will you be there?
